Something new for BIG!
Bandon lnclusivity Group invites you all to come together for a form of peace activism that we’re calling Peace Circles.
The idea came about when weekly BIG demonstrators on Hwy 101 began to notice a positive change in reactions from drivers passing by – more head nods, more smiles from people who before had been indifferent or negative. Our discussions explored these questions: Is what we’re doing beginning to change the community dynamic? What other outreach might encourage open heartedness and a sense of inclusion in our community?
We envision weekly Peace Circles as a way to bring together those in our community who aspire to harmony rather than confrontation. Peace Circles will include contemplations on the roots of peace and agitation, hearing each other, being together in simple being as a way to join and share in a common vision.
We’re inviting newsletter subscribers at first, with the hope that others will be interested in being part of this community action. Initially we will meet through Zoom while the weather is unpredictable, then move outside to parks and other public spaces when the weather improves in the spring. Especially outside in public places, the Peace Circles would have a visual impact and with consistency could be a part of the Bandon landscape.
The Circles will be facilitated by Phyllis and Andrew at the beginning.
Eventually everyone who wishes would have a turn to do so. At the first meeting, there will be an opportunity to ask questions and explore the possibilities.
The Circles will be held Mondays at 5:30 pm beginning December 27. The zoom link will take you to a waiting room where a host will bring you into the meeting.
