Juneteenth Celebration in Coos Bay June 17-19, 2023
A celebration centering on resilience through storytelling, visibility, joy, food and amplifying Black voices will be held at the Coos History Museum this month. The Oregon Remembrance Project presentation on Saturday June 17 includes a keynote by Taylor Stewart. The Black Market Gourmet hosts a reception later in the day, and on Monday June 19 the very fun Pixar film Soul is being shown at the Egyptian Theater.
Community Connections Wednesday June 15th
The South Coast Equity Coalition is hosting a monthly Zoom meeting for any community members who wish to meet up with others concerned about creating a healthy, diverse and inclusive community. The meetings are held at 5:30pm on the third Wednesday of each month.
Celebration of Earth at Sprague Community Center
Saturday June 10th at 2pm, local actor William Ferrer and musician Malaya McLean are presenting a multicultural Celebration of our Earth at the Sprague Community Theater. This family-friendly event will be a fun gathering with stories and music!
Traditional West African Music
Sunday June 11th join in two Traditional West African music events with special guest Master Malik Sow. At 1pm there is a one-hour drum class, and at 5pm is a concert and the opportunity to dance to the music.
